Supercharged Disco 3 - ECU Query
Discussion
Right, I have a knackered Disco 3 v8, engine kapput, with head warped and valves bent etc.
In looking for a replacement engine, the 4.4 v8 is the same price as a second hand 4.2 s/c engine from a RRS.
So Im looking at putting in the supercharged 4.2 engine and box, and wiring it up. Its essentially the same engine, mounting points etc so should be a straight forward bolt in.
The ECU's are both DENSO units, so all talks the same CAN language. However, Im looking to see whether the ECU's have the immobiliser code stored in them? If so, how would I go about getting it decoded so I can install the full s/c engine, loom and ECU into my disco 3? There will a need to splice some wires into the Disco 3 loom which Im comfortable with, its just this possible immobiliser/ecu issue thats holding me back.
Ive spoken to lots of online ecu specialists who have never had one in for that before, which got me thinking if theres no market for it, is it because the immobiliser doesnt talk to the ECU? Theres no pin outs on the ecus specifically to the immobiliser either.
Anyone know if RRS ECU and immobiliser are linked, or if the key fob and immobiliser do the security stuff first and then send a signal to the ECU regardless of origin?
Hoping to bottom this out soon so I can crack on with the car!

I'd suggest contacting Blackbox Solutions. They design and manufacture all manner of diagnostic equipment for Land/Range Rovers for the home and professional user and will most likely have the answers to such a query.
They have a forum along with the usual email addresses on their website.
