I currently have a Canon D400 which I use for work (surveys etc) and also combined with either my Sigma 70 - 200 F2.8 or Sigma 150 - 400 for my hobby of aircraft or motor racing photography. Its getting a bit long in the tooth now (still works fine but bashed about a bit during site works) I'm thinking of replacing with a Canon 70D, will I see much in the way of quality improvement etc and is it a good upgrade from the old 400?

thanks

I would imagine it will be a good upgrade in both build quality as you're stepping up a model range and also improvements that quite a number of years progress has made. I moved from a 30D which I was very happy with the image quality to a newer model and while the mp count didn't make must difference the low light performance is night and day. I would previously not have wanted to shoot about ISO800 where as now I'm happy to push it so much further.
