I have noticed recently that I am getting a slightly erratic idle, the idle rises and falls fairly rhythmically am I right in thinking I need to clean my stepper motor? And the numpty question exactly where is my stepper motor, I know it is near the plenum but thats my limit.

I could tell you but you haven't got one!...I think its called an idle control valve...If you have hunting i would check air hoses first..Check the ones on the AAV and plenum and from the idle control valve which is the little cup shaped housing on the side of the plenum facing the windscreen..Before removing it have some blue hylomar ready and a new gasket or gasket paper as it will need to be sealed up again afterwards...Check all the clips and hoses first....Ziga

I had a new idle control valve in the last lot of fettling, and this has happened since then so I guess I have an air leak to that.
I do want to change that nasty ribbed pipe from the AFM for a smooth silicon elbow but funds are tight at the moment with being off, no overtime to pay for the toy!

Could be mate...The air intake is okay mate but i know what you mean..Silicone does give a slightly better flow...If i can afford to buy the 90 degree alloy elbow then you can have my old blue silicone one..I have some 70mm red silicone laying about and that would look good in Poppy...I will keep you posted...Cheers..Ziga
