Just interested to know what updates Aston made at various points through the cars 10yr life? Not just different new models, but updates to existing models. For example I believe the seats were updated moving to the MY2007?

There is a book in the sticky at the top that details in exacting detail all the MY changes - a worth while investment. Largely speaking MY07 had redesigned seats, options for seat memory and lights in door handles and Bluetooth. Beyond that, I can't remember smile

Its not too late to buy the book at all. The book isn't just for purchasing information, it has a wealth of information about all modern Astons and has been invaluable to me as an owner of a V8V.

For £19.99 you can't go wrong, well worth the money.

Shame there doesn't seem to be a Kindle version. If there was I would buy it as I could read it on the train

I bought the book a few months back before purchasing my first Aston.
Very helpful and clearly explaining differences between models year on year.

Sometimes is best not to know .... makes decisions easier and quicker biggrin
I started wanting a 2006 V8, then 2007, then ..... 2010, then start questioning yourself over a V8S or V12 ...
Knowing that you want one is easy .... knowing where to draw the line is the hardest bit

Agree with you so much. Everything I buy goes that way. As soon as I start researching what I think I wanted is no poverty spec compared to what I end up with. Usually having just totally blown my budget and having perfected a great justification speech.

Surprisingly my second biggest purchase ever and I went in head first without researching at all really. And as you suggested probably a good thing as I'm pretty sure I would have ended up not being satisfied with this one and ended up not having one at all for another year until I saved up the extra I would have needed

You can actually read books on the train - (most) people won't laugh..

hehe The whole Aston ownership package is a slippery slope, you start off with a 4.3 Vantage and (eventually) end up with a Vanquish, just look at some well know PH's biggrin but at least the guide covers them all in detail so you have all the information when you are ready to change smile

While I agree that you can sometimes get over involved with fine detail, it has to be better to buy from an informed position of reasonable knowledge, rather than.. that looks nice I'll buy it... and then justify to yourself that you are happy with aspects that aggravate you, when they could have been avoided with a little research!

It's not just about the MY's (although there are some big/key changes) it's also about finding out what will suit you, for example is a good audio important, do you like a firm sporting handling... or not, manual, flappy paddles or auto.. how do they compare....V12 or V8, how does the soft-top compare to the coupe, what options are available and are they worth having. Things to look out for that can go wrong, running costs, colour options, etc, etc smile we even have some excellent input from forum members with their own cars wink

My lightbulb moment was many years ago when I arrived at the Porsche showroom to pick up my 996 gen2 Carrera 2 only to see the new C4S (which I knew nothing about!) alongside it. The C4S looked stunning and its driving dynamics and residuals were way better - I didn't bond with the updated C2 and although I tried to justify away its weak points I wished I had researched things in more detail, it went in a short space of time.
