That on the day you need to get some car tax.. the one document you can't find is the MOT certificate..

Not always. With me its usually the insurance certificate... You know, the one thing you can't get a copy of that day, especially when its the last day of the month...

It's because you're woefully disorganised and left it to late to make sure you'd got everything. but I expect we've all been equally daft in the past

Car Tax - what a saga last time for me (end of December) as follows:

Queue up for 20 mins at post office
Cashier informs me I've got the wrong Insurance document
Go home and find right document
Return to post office and queue up for 20 mins
Cashier informs me that I've forgotten MOT document
Go home and find MOT certificate
Return to post office and queue up for 20 mins
I'm told that everything's in order and offer to pay by Visa
Cashier says "only a debit card or cash"
I go away and find a cashpoint and withdraw £150 cash
I return to Post Office and it's closed for lunch
I go home
I return to Post office and queue up for 20 minutes
Cashier then tells me it's £165 not £150
I go back to cash-point and withdraw a further £15
I return to Post office and queue up for 20 minutes
I pay chasier and receive Tax Disk

Was I in a bad mood at the end of it? You bet I was.

Yeah, I'd have been annoyed with myself for being such a numpty as to not have read the checklist and made sure I had everything with me too.

when picking up my new toy (911) from London last year, I too queued up to see the little man at the post office in Mill Hill...I was informed that I should contact the DVLA immediately and they could not issue my tax disk despite having all the correct docs

Turned out the garage hadnt given me the new FULL v5 doc with a correct code on it! (Change of personal registration number had put spanner in the works)

I think you'll find that you believe incorrect information. But it doesn't matter, because we all know what you mean - and no one comes on the net for a grammar lesson!
