Help with headlight flash

Hope some one can help. Just picked up my first cerbera 98 4.2 this weekend.
Have an mot booked tomorrow but can't get the headlamps to flash.
The lights work on the switch, side, dip and main and the button on the steering wheel moves between dip and high.
So switches and bulbs fine. When lights are off pressing the steering wheel button does nothing.
Anyone got any tips?

Might be worth looking at the lights control box (think its in the boot?).
The connections might be corroded?

As above but note there are 2 units that are usually next to each other 1 lighting control unit and 1 marked Dim Dip

Thanks guys spot on cleaned contacts. Checked behind dash and found loose connector.

Fab. I suspected the lack of current would have impacted it but with lights on the current was probably fine.
