I've now had this a short while and thought it might be time to make comment on it as my first ever Porsche ownership experience.
its a 1997 71,000m fsh Carrera 2S varioram with original option electric hardback seats (holy grail i'm informed lol) and 18" hollow spoke turbo alloys (which are genuinely light for the size).
I've done a nice easy track day at Blyton airfield which was fun, its quick enough but not ridiculously so, and you can power slide if you push it, i did spin once when being heavy handed but enjoyed it tremendously.
it does tramline a little on bumpy undulating worn roads in Derbyshire but feels very stable and planted generally.
the seating and driving position is just fantastic, as are the gearchange and brakes. i can see why people love the overall package.
its going to get some slightly louder /sportier mufflers as its a little bit tame other than at the top end of the rev range. that shouldnt cost too much by the look of it.
its due its first service with me in November but the pre-estimates arent looking too bad costwise at a local porsche specialist.
insurance was £308 fully comp with breakdown and euro cover thrown in, which is a blessing on classic agreed value insurance.
So far so good, loving Porsche classic ownership, and the oil cooled experience touch wood!

Turbine smooth is a very good description tbh.Nimble little thing and so small compared to modern hatchbacks etc sat in traffic. Like sitting on the floor!
Needs a bit more audible rumble and will be perfect.

Definitely! No fear about driving quickly down narrower roads where as in larger cars it would be a bit of a squeeze with passing traffic! My dad has fitted a decat x pipe to his (pre varioram) and it makes it a lot more vocal with some pops on the over run, a nice mod because it doesn't drone in 6th cruising at a tonNimble little thing and so small compared to modern hatchbacks etc sat in traffic. Oh how I wish I'd ignored my wife and bought the 993 C4S I had my eye on in 2002. It was a billy bargain compared to today's prices, locally, at least.
i bet a few people wish they had a garage full, incredible surge in prices recently. didnt buy it as an outright investment but wont complain if it keeps going up! The C4S I looked at was £28K. Hindsight, eh?
