What's your daily driver....

Just to start a general chit chat I know I am not alone in the league of TVR owners who have a second "lesser" car as a daily driver - for those less salubrious areas; moving garden rubbish and general crappy journeys. Now to all of you talkative type who have a second car I have three questions:-
1. What is it
2. Why did you choose it (if you did choose it)
3. Do you enjoy the Tiv even more knowing what "normal" cars are like?

I will kick off. I have a 15 year old BMW 318 estate that I go because it is cheap and I hate front wheel drive junk. Do I enjoy the Tiv more. Absolutely; sttrain the grinning muscles some days.

I did have an 88 944S but, after about 6 months of never using it, sold it. Just have the Tuscan now.

1996 BMW 328 Coupe.

Fantastic car.

Sounds good, if a bit quiet.

Handles like a car should.

Super creamy smooth motor.

Can't believe I'm saying this, given that it is a 2.8 litre six, but it feels completely and utterly gutless compared to the Griffith.

A 98 Fiat Marea saloon. Bought because it was a one owner, looked after car at right price. Then I found out it was the 20v 5 cyl version, which do go ok it turns out. Bad points: the usual, front wheel drive, blander than magnolia woodchip (but not as bland as most Euroboxes) We have put a fair few miles on it and it's never missed a beat.

I don't have a TVR, but I do have a Porka.

I said yesterday that I have 999cc Fiesta Lux.
I bought it because it's cheap, and my first car was a Fiesta. I've owned Three.

Having been the sort of person that has always taken my cars to bit's, I thought I'd get a car that I knew without having to think hard abot solving problems.

I really wanted something that wouldn't matter if it got damaged. I'm glad I did, I had a can of bitumastic paint in the back last June. Went around a corner a bit sharply and ended up with a bootfull of the stuff. Still.... At least the back of the car won't go rusty now!

I never worry about leaving anywhere. The only problem is that it's really only good for about 85mph.

Last year, not including petrol, but including insurance and tax it must have cost me less than £300.

It's been hit more than once by other people, and it just doesn't matter.

I ought to point out, that in the Fiasco is quite cool for more than just a junky car. It's great for sliding around empty supermarket car parks. It goes sideways in a much easier and in a less deadly way.

It doesn't compare to "getting it right" in the porka though!

We have a 2001 Clio 1.2 Grande 5 door! lol,, but, we've used it a lot and it's a great A-B car, esprcially for the 15 mile trek to school, and we don't mind it getting dirty along the country lanes!

The daily driver is an Audi A8 and its superb, it does everything well and has a huge boot, handy when you have a 2 year old! We will soon be adding a third car, possibly a Maserati 3200GT, will be the wifes car, so looking forward to having a 370bhp twin turbo "second car" to play with. I will still get out in the Tiv at every possible opportunity though, nothing puts a smile on my face like a big pre-cat V8 in a beautiful body..........

I have a 94 BMW 320i as my daily car, which I used to quite like. Now it's just a workhorse!! If where I work wasn't such a shtty area, I'd use the Cerb more.
Missus drives a 01 BMW 323i Convertible, which I try to blag sometimes, especially when the summer starts,

My daily driver and company car was the chimaera, but these days the chimaera spends more time in the garage and i drive a van.... ok so its an 03 Discovery commercial and diesel :yuk: but it is chipped and intercoolered up to almost 200 bhp

Company motor. Really good on fuel and fairly swift.

So different to the Griff in every aspect apart from they're both blue.

It'll do as a freebie. I fancy getting something else like a Mk2 Golf GTi or an old Opel Manta just to add another dimension to my collection of automobiles.

The MX5 when the children are at school, bought this because I've always really wanted one and I wanted something to hone my skills in.

Family car, Rover 620sldi, because it was cheaper to buy than to re-register the French registered Citreon AX.

I walk a fair amount too, more money for Optimax for the wedge then
