Following an impromptu sprint, from cold without warmup 5 days ago, I appear to have pulled my hip muscle at the front. Not the usual couple of days and it'll be fine type of pull, but the kind which puts me in significant pain trying to lift my leg and I'm really struggling to walk. Cant lie flat on my back without having a bend in my leg as it feels like its pulling. Doesn't seem to have got any better since it happened.

I guess the answer is rest. Any further I can do to speed it up as I'm usually very active.

Im not sure what to advise, usually id say Price but ive just been advised for a similar injury to not rest or compress,

Hot and cold compresses will speed up recovery, ive been advised to keep my lower back muscle injury moving, not to rest it or compress it.

Apparently rest was overstated in the past and actually meant to not part take in the activity that injured it, not complete rest. As for compression apparently that can have issues with the muscle recovering its full suppleness/mobility, also causes issues with restricted blood flow due to over tightening.

As always with internet medical advice, see a doctor.

Yeah that's the thing, I don't want to rest completely as it won't strengthen the damaged muscle but certainly don't want to overdo it.
Tried hot and cold with an ice pack and a hot bath. Feel like I'm walking like a duck!
