I have a 4.6 block knocking about, its needs a rebore can i take a std liner out to 96mm or am i restricted to 94 plus a slight overbore... I'd like to build a short stroke 5 ltr...

Pretty sure 96mm will require top hats. Standard liners tend to be limited to +20.

Set of top hats would be required.
I would ask Roland at ACR. Also maybe consider his forged pistons at the same time wink

Would that be a 5l or is there crank work to do ?

For a 5.0 an offset ground crank and new rods would be needed

For the effort involved, might as well go for the longer stroke and have 5.2?

Its a race motor so limited to 5ltr for the class. Current motor uses stock griff 500 crank rods and pistions. I want to build up a spare and the shorter stroke spins up quicker and the cranks stronger than the tvr 5ltr crank.

It looks cheaper to buy a block already fitted with top hats and with 96mm bore than to get that one relinered so will probably just keep that at 94 with maint rebore then
