When I bought my camera, it came with a host of filters, most of which I'm still playing around with. Now, there's a pack of filters for Black and white with room for 6 filters, but there's only 5 filters, could anyone tell me what one I'm missing?

I've got -
BW1 - Yellow
BW2 - Orange
BW3 - Green
BW4 - Red
NT2 - Strange cross hatching one

While I'm here, could anyone tell me what the NT2 one does as I'm looking to have a dabble in monochrome photography. Any decent books out there?

TIA

Nige.

Yellow, orange and red are the usual b/w ones.

Are you film or digital?

Film, won't be going digital for a very long time.

OK, then these kind of filters will be useful. The 'cross-hatching' one sounds like a Star 4 - hold it up to a small bright light source and see what happens.

You might like to browse the Cokin range of special effects filters: www.cokin.fr/

Thanks for that link, it's looks like it's #144, the Net Filter White. From that link it seems to soften the image a bit. It's definetly not a Star 4 as I've got one of those (Actually 2, and a Star 8) that's got 'Star 4' written on it, this filter just says NT2 which I'm assuming stands for NeT 2.
