What do you think...?

15inch rims ET 35 (is that correct for the S.?) Ford fitment PCD.

Straight swap for the 8 spokes, then I can recon the originals...?

I will sort out wheel centres....

Opinions please

Sell the originals for £500 to whoever it was that someone said will pay that much for them (thread about 2 weeks ago on that subject). Then buy some larger 16" or 17" wheels and tyres on ebay for £500.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

The originals would probably have been 15x7 with a 1" inset (25mm).

Yep. Planning on keeping them...

I have been on the lookout for a second set of wheels so that I can take the Oz 8's off and hand polish them...

After seeing a couple of cars at the S Meet last year, who had re-finished their themselves I want to do that...

Thats why I will replace 15 inch rims with 15's so that I can use the original tyres.

Cheers

Dave,

Correct PCD but wrong offset, you'll need ET10-15 on the S.

I tried ET35 offset wheels on mine and they looked ridiculous.

ET35 sit way too far inside the arches and spacers that size will cost you a fair bit for good hubcentric ones IIRC.

Nice wheels though!

Look for a peugeot fitment and you'll find them perfect.

Cheers,
Kevin

The ones Dave posted here are almost identical to my new BMW BBS speedlines, nice wheels but a git to clean!

Dave / anyone, any tips on 'hand polishing' the Oz alloys ?

I've got the original S1 alloys and they suffered the usual fate with the lacquer puncturing, brake dust getting underneath, generally looking pretty rough etc etc.

I stripped the lacquer coat off one wheel and used very fine wet 'n dry to remove the remnants of the brake dust. All in all, it looked pretty good. Repainted the black bits, polished (using wadding, can't remember the name) and then applied a clear lacquer coat.

In the garage, the wheel looked great and I was very pleased with the result. Put it back on the car though and it looked a shade or two darker than the other wheels.

I'm guessing I may have to strip the new lacquer coat off and go for some more rigorous polishing. Any tips on achieving the same super bright / chrome finish ?

A mate suggested they may have to be re-anodised ?? Not sure about this though.

Anyone else experience similar when refurbing their alloys ??

TIA

If it's any help, I did have a set of M-Series T-slots that I hand polished (rather than having them lacquered), Solvol Autosol followed by Brasso followed by Duraglit wadding worked well.

Apologies for bringing this back to the top, but thought I'd post some pics of my alloys before and after.

Just a bit of elbow grease and you can transform this:

Into this:

Worth the effort IMHO

'kin hell Dave, you lucky lucky bar steward!

Well spotted mate, fantastic buy!

I wouldnt mind a set to be honest so that I can return the car to original if I wish at some point, I like the 8 spokes now and would probably interchange over summer/winter keeping the OZ for summer and the wolfrace for winter.
