With HBOS and looking to shift my current account.

As per title, who's best at internet banking?

+1

- I got switched over from my old Midland account (yes I'm THAT old) and throughout they have been absolutely brilliant.

+3 If you want the best online banking, no one can touch First Direct IMO

Also on the rare occasions you might need to speak to them ,you get straight through to someone in the UK, no annoying automated robots, no call centres shuffling you from pillar to post and rather uniquely it seems, you get to speak to someone whose first language is English.

Can't rate them highly enough.

I have a Nationwide Flex Plus account and their online banking is superb.

As is the mobile app, and, as from this month, you'll also be able to use Apple Pay.

What's their Internet Banking interface like? I like the Lloyds one for being able to have 'pots' of money to move around online.

Exactly how I use the Nationwide on-line banking.

Customer service wise First Direct - no question. You'll also get £100 for switching.

Personally I don't think their internet banking is the best (in terms of interface). The HSBC one was better, and the NatWest and Barclays ones are superior too (IMO).

The First Direct app is no frills so you see all your accounts from one login and can move money between them, set up standing orders\DD or make payments etc.

I've also used Barclays and HSBC online and they are all pretty much of a muchness tbh. I can't think of any outstanding features, they all do pretty much the same and all have smartphone apps. The only differentiator therefore is the customer service and in that regard no one can touch First Direct, IMO of course.

I like the simple "stripped back" approach. I want it to be clear with no distractions.

I don't know if other banks do this but there are also two levels of access - the first allows you to view your accounts and move money between them. To set up new transfers etc you use a more secure log in with a generated security code.

Works well as it avoids the need to faff around with codes when you just want to check your balances.

Mobile app works well too, only slight criticism is that you can't log in using secure ID on an iPhone.

Have we mentioned First Direct yet?

Yeah, First Direct. No problems whatsoever.
