I've been sent a vid on CD the file on it is .mov and its 42mb any simple way to reduce the file size for uploading ?

if you use a mac iMovie does it or Quicktime pro also has a similar feature.

for PC users... dunno

Download BINK Rad Tools (it's free) it can convert .Mov files to .avi (choose compression type too) then if it's still to big you can resize the video clip using either Windows Media Encoder, Movie Maker XP or VirtualDUB (free)

If there is no sound on the output then the clip has the apple sound protection enabled, the way to get this back is it to play the original clip as a .mov record the sound (using a sound recorder) and merge the .avi video and captured audio using Movie Maker or VirtualDUB.
