Mods ...please feel free to move this to a more appropriate forum, if this is not the right one...

I have been assisting a relative with a recordable Dvd set up..

Basically there ia a TV...a sky box and a recordable DVD....and more remote controls than you can juggle at one time!

The DVD works fine recording Bbc 1,2.Itv & C4...the thing is this is on Av1....the sky works fine on Av2.

Now the skarts connect dvd to skybox to Tv for the signal...how can we get it so that we can record sky progs on the DVD?

I really do not have much idea on this AV1 / Av2 scenario.

It seems to me that both individual components do their job, but due to the individual Av's..they are not actually talking to each other.

I did not set either component up,,,but why would you have DVD on Av1 & sky on Av2 anyhow????

Any help and education would be gratefully appreciated...Tks.

Ok this shoud be simple if you have 2 scart sockets or more on the TV.

Your aerial ( RF Connection) should loop from
aerial, dvd recorder, to TV ( this can be used to record BBC, ITV etc)

SCART Connections should be

SKY BOX (TV) socket to AV1 on TV
SKY BOX (VCR) socket to AV2 on DVD Recorder
DVD Recorder (AV1) to TV (AV2)

Under this set up, recording on the dvd recorder uses the aerial for terrestial channels )(BBC etc)

AV1 on the recorder is normally ths signal output from the recorder
AV2 the signla input from the sky channels

Thanks for the responses guys....Smb...that is the set up in place,,,the dvd recorder can record terrestial chanels, no problem....it is the recording of sky that is causing the problem...on av1 you get to choose the channel to record and when you use the DVD functions, it opens up it's menu on the TV screen...when in AV2 sky is working, but if you try to access the dvd nothing happens in av2..the dvd menu will not appear on the screen,,until you switch back to av1....as you can tell i don't know much about this,,,I assume it is possible to record sky? and set a timer to record sky at a forward time...tks.
