I've included a paragraph in this months Evo about vmax and the fact the Murci got to an 'indicated' 191mph. Of course I didnt mention the actual speed was timed 10mph less. Bit of poetic license me thinks..
A nice pic of your timing gear boys Craig!
I didnt realise till today when I saw the photos in Evo of the Murci at Vmax, that the scoops were up on the 191mph run. Ecu must have raised them for extra cooling, so I reckon the best chance of exceeding that speed on the next outing will be to try straightaway, before the Lambo gets too warm and they come out.Mind you looks like some serious bhp in the 911's down to come along.

Indeed. It's quite cool being able to flick through evo and say "i know him".

Good article. I thought the scoops were only operational up to about 100mph?

How good actually IS Rain-X?

Still waiting for my copy of EVO to hit the door mat. Tomorrow hopefully.

Cleaned my Elise this morning and applied rather a lot of Rain X. Good stuff. No need for wipers at all on the motorway.

Even better when it's one of your photos in his article.

I take it you are you doing VMax again this time ?

Looks like I've missed the boat already on this one - it departed very quickly.

No, they stay up at all speeds if the engine needs it but only work manually below 40mph.
Rick - you can come with me if you want again?

Fantastic stuff. Water just beads away above 40mph on the Chim. I also have the top-up stuff in the screen wash as well...

Got my subscription copy the other day and read the VMAX write up with interest. I thought it was a bit cheeky, you suggesting it's VMAX at 191mph...

I wondered Simon, what tyre section the Murci runs on the front, is it a 245? The shot of the Murci thundering down the runway, with cooling vents out was a great shot. Yet it seemed to exaggerate how "skinny", if this is the correct word, the front's look from ground level.

Not being too familiar with Diablo's/Murci's. Is the Murci running a smaller section than the Diablo, hence helping towards better handling characteristics?

As a side note I thought the Murci roadster/Zonda roadster article was just fabulous.

The fronts are bound to look skinny... It's 7ft wide! Any tyre will look tiny with a carcass like that wrapped around it.

I WILL own one... mebbe two

Yea they are 245/35 Pirelli P Rosso's on the front Steve. It needs a new pair (and the rears) very soon, eek! I knew if I put in the write up it was 10mph slower they would edit it out as it looks good on the speedo at 191mph!! Not sure what the Diablos run on.

Good luck buying the new tyres , I presume these to be the internet sourced ones mentioned in the article?

Don't know if I can help you here but Lawrence has a tyre supplier that can do a set of tyres for his 575M at about £800.00 a set. I'm sure he wouldn't mind me asking him about your tyres. Just a thought. I'm pretty sure on his car these are a 245 front Rosso Corsa(?) but perhaps not a 315/335 rear. I think they're a 295 rear. He replaced his after VMAX, seems most of the tread was stuck to the inside of his wheelarch !!

We're in the North West so not a million miles from you.
