Before you all start laughing, I'm 52 unfit and have decided to do something about it 
Received my bike yesterday from the e-bikeshop.com and first impressions are what a great bit of kit!
I did nearly twenty miles yesterday (no way would I have managed this on a normal bike) and found the motor helps, but is not overly intrusive in its assistance.
It makes mincemeat of hills and with the variable Bosch system turned off on the flat, behaves like a normal bike.
I guess the purists may sneer a little, but at least I'm back out and about, and hopefully on the road to better fitness levels!
Anybody else got one? Would be interested to hear others views.

Not got an e-bike myself but quite often try to hang onto one that another chap on my commuting route has. That's a tough old workout as he whizzes along under battery assisted power. Seems to be a very good solution for 20-30 miles when you wouldn't otherwise ride a normal bike.

I'm going to use it for a twelve mile commute. I've purchased a second charger for work as I think twenty four mile round trip may be pushing the battery pack a little too far!

I firmly believe e-bikes will form a significant part of our future mobility. Fossil fuels won't last forever and e-transport will suffer the lack of energy density issues we're currently stuck with. What I mean is, a full petrol tank contains significantly more energy than batteries of the same volume or weight.
The only way e-transport will work is if we lighten our requirements with e-bikes being the most obvious solution in terms of availability today and the lightest form of e-transport.

Sad as it may seem, even after admitting my purchase of the Motus, I have been hugely into model helicopters for many years... I have seen the development in high energy, light weight power packs, and indeed brushless motor tech, over the last few years first hand! To say it has been amazing is an understatement! I read that the latest developments in battery packs are "Solid State" units. With this, and advances in "WIFI" charging techniques, it really is a rapidly evolving energy source. They are good aren't they OP. I was in Majorca a few weeks back and being a keen cyclist was eager to hire a bike, my wife not a keen cyclist wasn't! I hired a mountain bike because Grr 30+ degree heat bring it on my wife hired an electric bike and I have to say win win

We run 2 ebike shops and the look on peoples' faces and sheer delight when they rest ride the crank driven bikes is wonderful. The days of the garden centre Chinese toy scooter ebikes we all remember from a few years ago are firmly behind us! We are off to Haibike's 2016 model range launch in Germany this weekend. - expect even more beautifully engineered and designed German beauties in your local shops next year.
