Hi I already posted this in another section and didn't seem to get any replies at all which surprised me as most people on here seem friendly enough. Sorry if there's a rule about reposting. But...

I'm looking for a car. I already have an mx5 which is currently dd but the new one will become dd, mx5 for weekends.

I have four thousand to spend. Something for a lot less would be welcome though.
I need it to be quite reliable as I know very little about mechanics.
It needs to be a two or three door only (I just don't like four/five door cars)
It needs to be either good/different looking or quite rare.
Performance doesn't matter too much but something with a quicker than 10 second 0-60 would be preferred.
Awd or Fwd only as the mx5 covers the rwd section
I'd consider a 4x4 of some sort in which case the performance would be even less of an issue.
Insurance needs to be reasonable.

As of yet the only car that's really ticked a lot of boxes for me is a suzuki ignis sport.
Help me think of more?
cheers.

Toyota Celica T-Sport.

190bhp, 0-60 7.0secs, 140mph top speed, 40mpg extra urban, four seats, two doors, fantastic to look at, reliable (Toyota).

I bought mine for £2,000 with 110,000 on the clock. These engines are made by Yamaha and are chain driven, so high mileage isn't an issue.

For £4,000 you can get a real nice one. That's my recommendation!

(By the way, that's my car in the photo).

Not going to lie. Usually the looks of the celica don't appeal to me but either you got the angle just right or it's the fact a lot are uncared for examples. Yours looks awesome.

I was about to post the very same idea, is this before all your mods? Looks even smarter now if memory serves

Interesting, but I would expect insurance premiums to be high?

It's after the modifications (albeit not many), which is why it looks clean, low and spaced. It's got a 35mm drop, front axle is widened 34mm and the rear 44mm, and a small badge on the front grill. Aside from that, the exterior is completely standard smile

Plus you have to keep in mind that, these in their bog standard form with black skirts, 16" wheels, no spoiler, standard 'too high' suspension, and completely uncared for (not that this one is uncared for, but most are), all look like this...

So you can kind of see the difference between a normal one, and mine.
