Didn't see a post for this so thought I'd start one. The free version of Driveclub for PSN+ members was finally released a couple of weeks ago and I managed to download it at the weekend. For those wanting to give this a go however please note that it is a huge download. It downloads in various bits but amounts to over 25GB in the end so people with fast broadband only need apply I think.

As for the game itself after some of the crappy reviews I was pleasantly surprised. The game looks very nice indeed, the handling isn't as refined as Project Cars but it's definitely a fun game. Don't get me wrong PC is great but it can be very punishing and dry at times, Driveclub definitely has an easier learning curve and is fun to play from the get-go.

If you like your driving games a bit more arcade-ey in the Need for Speed mould then it's definitely worth giving this a go, especially as it's free. It is cut down as you only get 10 cars and 11 tracks but all game modes are unlocked including online and did I mention it's free?

Anyone else going to give this a go?

Hmm I've not had long to play with it but you get the tracks and cars mentioned above. If you like it you can then buy the full game for £40 or buy the cars, tracks you want individually. I think it's a nice way to try before you buy tbh but your right the download is huge.

I thought the games on Playstation Plus were full games... that's what it is advertised as rage

They usually are but this isn't a normal psn+ game that you get every month. This is something extra the developers have done to get people to try their product. I think it makes sense, if you like it you buy it, if not you just delete it. I've seen other companies take the same route recently too. Dead or Alive 5 is "free" too but only certain characters are unlocked.

Oh, I didn't know that, the game looked good for the first race shame I cant do anything else to bother testing it to see if its worth buying or not

???

There are loads of events\races available. You need to place top 3 I think in the first event with the Mercedes AMG-GT then a lot of other stuff gets unlocked. I've tried everything from drifting in a BMW to racing in a Ferrari race with a 430 Scuderia. It really is a fun little game.

Not as realistic or punishing as Project Cars but nice when you want to have a blast round without the intense concentration levels required for that game. I'll probably play my way through all the free content then wait for a price drop for the main game.

I got first in that event and everything else was locked... it was a 25gb download for one race, which has put me off ever buying it

Sorry but you are missing something obvious, I've played about 6 different events already after that first race and can see at least another 20 which I can get access to as I level up. You need to go into Tour mode I think?

Yeah, I had at least one full tour with lots of cars when I downloaded it, and the upgrade was only £20 when I did it in the end. I definitely enjoyed what was on offer and there's quite a few cars you can drive even online (albeit locked to India tracks) so I don't think it's bad for what is essentially a demo! I ended up upgrading to the full version.

I downloaded it but just didnt enjoy it. I played for about 20 mins an switched it off. Part of the reason of the shake they apply to the world when you reach speed. It made me feel a bit sick.

I've seen lots of comments on various forums regarding this, can't really say I've noticed it tbh. Apparently certain camera angles make it better\worse.

Looks like I can get a copy delivered from ebay for about £15, or pay £20 for it via the PSN...

Obviously if you enjoy the game their are various methods to getting the full content which may be cheaper. This PSN+ version is a really good way to get quite a lot of content for free to allow you to try the game. I wish more companies would offer this.

This was supposed to be released at the same time as the full game though, it was promised for months prior to the PS4 release then they completely dropped it.

I forked out for the full game when it was eventually released and was thoroughly disappointed. It's a good looking game but there's no depth or anything to really keep me hooked for the long term.

I really wanted Forza Horizon 2, almost bought an Xbox One for it..

It is quite amusing that I can drive a Mini, a Merc, an Alfa, or a RUF CTR3 yet there are corners which NONE of these cars can take faster than 40mph!!

£12 to pickup a second hand copy in Cex. I've also noticed there is are a number of free cars, a livery and event pack for download. Not so sure I'll be paying out near enough £30 for the extra event DLC though tbh!
