How tight should the ecu multiplug be ?
Discussion
All,
Some advice please.....
How tight should the ecu multiplug pins be ie should they really grip the ecu terminals ?
The gap between each pin connector on the multiplug is quite big (a few millimeters) and I'm just wondering whether to buy from the flea a new plug and connectors.
I would need to splice the old connector off and rewire the new pins to the new connector.
Anyone done this and is it easy ?
Many Thanks
Regards

Ther's no guarantee that a second-hand connector would be any better than the one you have!
You can buy the crimp terminals from Vehicle Wiring Products; just dismantle the connector, chop off any dodgy terminals and crimp/solder new ones on, then reassemble. The terminals are retained by plastic 'combs' rather than the usual 'bent tab' method so will come out dead easily.
Essentially, if the connector's slacker than my ex-wife, the terminals are ready to be changed
- though once you've stripped it down you may be able to bend the terminals back into shape as a monkey bodge.

Ian, thanks for this info, I do recall seeing the 'combs' and once they are removed do the terminals simply pull out of the multiplug then ?You can buy the crimp terminals from Vehicle Wiring Products; just dismantle the connector, chop off any dodgy terminals and crimp/solder new ones on, then reassemble.
