Water Pump and Battery Lights (Boxster)

Hi, I put my Boxster in for its MOT this morning and it passed with flying colours however when I went to pick it up both of these lights were on and it wouldn't start.

The garage gave me a jump start and it started straight away, I went in to pay and when I came it out it wouldn't start again.

I didn't have any issues with it before it went in - could they have done something unintentionally whilst MOTing it?

Am I looking at a fortune if its the alternator?

I'm wondering if they just flattened the battery while doing the MOT. It could be that the battery was/is on it's way out. Get it home and give it a full charge and see what happens. You could always get the battery tested.
