i have just rung tvr power and dom said it sounds like the car needs the new refueling chip, (£75) i am going up tomorrow morning to have this fitted, on my return i will let you know how i got on.
Urgh. That's the d-throttle chip. Would recommend against it... it compensates for the fact that the throttle bodies are worn by averaging readings over a longer period, etc. Yes, it'll cure the symptoms, but it'll also slow down throttle response in the process. And when the throttle bodies get REALLY bad, the problem may (possibly) resurface.

Added to that a complete replacement of the throttle bodies, rather than a refurbish of the exsisting ones, a lot of dosh if not under warranty I would have thought!

It doesn't affect throttle response but fixes the problem. It's all in the mind.....
Erm, you know how it works, right? By the very definition of what it does, it HAS to increase response times, as it's averaging readings over a longer period before doing anything. And all the while, the throttle bodies are getting worn away further.
If the d-throttle chip was an adequate solution, there wouldn't have been any need for TVR to change the design of the part; they could've just given everyone the chip as standard from then on...
Yes, I know all about how these problems can be solved, in great detail if you must ask.
I'm just comparing before and after the chip was fitted to my car. I couldn't tell any difference to throttle respone.
I think also it may be worth while making clear that there are two problems - full throttle 6000+ rpm misfire problem with the 2500 rpm constant throttle juddering. The chip fixes the former, new throttle boddies the latter.
Cheers,
Andy.
btw why don't you think all cars from 2001/2 were fitted with the modified chip ?????

Very true. But the root cause is the same, and I imagine one'd lead to the other eventually...
I just didn't think the chip is as bad as that.
I am surprised that there is a £75 charge as I thought this fit was FOC to earlier cars. I think MkII has got a new map again so maybe this is what is being fitted ?
Anyway, I would trust TVR Power at the end of the day, they set my car up an absolute beaut (better than the factory!).
Cheers,
Andy.

well i am back from tvr power, got there at 8 am was back home at 10.30am. not a bad run from hertfordshire. Dom looked at the car ,pluged in the laptop and said it is not the throttle bodies at all, he said he will look at the ecu, when he opened the ecu he noticed that the top cover was a bit bent, this was touching some of the solder inside causing it to arc out at high revs for some reason. I opted for the new chip anyway and F..k me i have a different tuscan now. Many thanks to dom and tvr power, and you lot on here for the advice, if it wasant for you people i would not have taken the plunge in the first place. Oh buy the way it is the same chip they put in the mk11.
