Well after 4 years of .neglect', sitting in a barn in Bonny Scotland for 4 years, my Cerb is back on the road. Due to 'a change in personal circumstances' ( as they say) I had to lay the Cerb up to rest 4 years ago. Put it up on axle stands, plugs out, bores filled with oil, amd left.
I finally got it transported down here, and started the process of getting it up and running. The first thing I did was to manually turn the engine over nice and gently with a big spanner on the crank pulley, and it moved nice and sweetly -a big sigh of relief. I did this exactly 50 times, then changed the oil, put new plugs in, drained the petrol, drained the engine coolant, fitted a new battery, and then tested the electrics, and guess what? Everything worked, apart from the fuel pump. I ordered a new pump, and in the meantime, jacked the car up, and sprayed all the bushes and nuts with WD40, and when the pump arrived I fitted it, ignition on, and heard the reassuring 'whir' of fuel, being pumped. With fingers, toes, arms and legs crossed the black button was pressed, and would you believe it, after about 3 seconds the engine fired up, and settled down into a nice smooth 900rpm tickover. Marvellous :-). I plugged the Laptop in and everything checks out OK, just one fault logged which was the Water Temp sender, which I then traced to a broken wire near the sender, and fixed it.
On Friday I drove it 20 miles to the MOT station, and it passed, no advisories. The only fault is that the fuel guage is not working, perhaps the sender unit has seized up, so that's the next job.

A very happy Alan :-)

PS - a big thank you to Rossie for looking after it, thank you Rossie x

Glad to hear it all went well for you.

It's a great feeling getting them back out on the road again isn't it? We were without for a similar amount of time, only difference being I'd rebuilt it during the time off.
