Not being rude to the head honcho here but why do you disagree?
I was thinking it is useful, for instance, to see whether someone is likely to have seen a comment that was posted above their post, i.e. Were they typing it when the other comment was posted? Useful in some of the more heated debates and I guess in some of the topics on more sensitive issues where you could be likely to upset someone.

I'm with Ted, I prefer just the day/date in the older stuff, especially in 'What's Nwe -> My Stuff' where I can quickly see what's old and what's not.

Unfortunately the timestamps are generated when the post is made, not when composition is started.
It's not a big deal - I just think that it's potentially useful to see that a post was made last week but the time of day is largely irrevalent.
