Any respectable solicitors here?
Discussion
Hi guys hoping there is a solicitor on here whom has an interest in cars that could help / take a case on for me.
I sent a customers car for soda blasting to remove paint off areas I could not sand off. Reason for soda was because it is a tvr and soda does not damage glassfiber and also as it was still assembled so it wouldn't damage glass and lights ect...
Found a company off Google and one of my jag customers had also used them and gave the thumbs up.
Sent them and email with pics of the car and what I required. They quoted which I was more than happy with so I sent the car off to them to be blasted.
When it came back I was heart broken, they did not use soda or mask anything up so the interior is full of blasting media, they have caught the steering wheel and some of the Leather. The Ecu's are full of media as is all dash loom ect... it had a brand new set of alloys on which they didn't remove and have caught them with the blaster. Calipers caught. Media in the fuel filler neck. All lights blasted. Washer bottles windscreen and so on...
I immediately contacted the blasters who denied all responsibility. So have since been onto my insurance. But as it was a sub contractor who caused the damage and not myself I'm not valid. They said the can do a third party claim off the blasters insurance if I get the details but low and behold they ignore all emails.
So I need to bite the bullet and take legal action myself. But would prefer a solicitor with basic knowledge of cars as they will understand much better the gravity of what damage the blasters have done
Many thanks in advance

The problem here is that the claim will, presumably, be under £10k and therefore subject to the small claims track with any legal costs irrecoverable.
Ergo - you could find yourself with a disproportionate amount of legal fees as against the value of your claim.
I used to do a number of PH freebies to be a part of the community but a total eejit by behaving like a spoiled brat put paid to that sadly.
The money claims online service is supposedly relatively straight forward to use - have a look at the MCOL website. I am less convinced that the whole legal process, even in the small claims track, is straight forward enough for litigants in person but that is the way its going.

Also please note I'm not after a freebie in anyway shape or form. I'm after someone suitable for the case who will care about it. I don't think it's a case for my local family solicitor

Apologies, I wasn't insinuating you were - and assumption of it being <£10k shows assumption makes an ass out of me.. I was solely trying to highlight the potential issue with instructing solicitors if the value of the case falls under that ceiling, as is quite often the case. Rich
It strikes me that engineering evidence will be required to show the damage incurred (which in itself is likely to pass the threshold of proving negligence) and in terms of valuing quantum of the claim by way of the cost of rectifying such damage. A letter of claim can be sent in the interim to start the ball rolling and then once evidence in the form above is to hand Proceedings can be commenced.
I would keep a close eye on the standing of the proposed defendant though - it is one thing to obtain a Judgment but it can often prove a pyrrhic victory if you can't enforce it.
Happy to chat about it if its of use - feel free to email me.
