As per the title really... Is there anything similar to the Westcott Ice Light that isn't £300? smile

To be used for the lightpainting of cars.

Cheers!

a decent LED panel would work fine. I have a Yongnuo yn600, also amaran do some good cheap panels. They run off camcorder batteries...

Cheers for that smile

I carried on trawling the web this evening and came across a device called the MTL-900 which is essentially a Chinese knockoff of the Westcott Ice Light, but is twice as bright, slightly longer and has swappable rechargeable battery, and it's only £75 new. Various side by side tests by pro-togs on youtube say that the MTL is actually slightly better than the Ice light for colour temperature and also brightness which is pretty impressive.

Thought I would share this info for anyone interested in light painting!

I'm going to order one off ebay.

Car Camera Rig have recently started bringing in an Ice Light alternative but it could well be the same or similar to the MTL-900 you've posted. Given the price difference I think I'd gamble on the cheaper model (assuming it's packaged with a functional level of accessories).

That appears to be exactly the same device (but with clip on barn doors attachment) as the £75 on eBay model.

They have quite a cheek selling it for £300 wink and even say don't confuse this with cheaper Ebay models....
