Hi. Had this site for a year or so now and never really got it going. Trying not to advertise it as I'm sure its against the rules. I have started populating it with stock but would welcome any kind of feedback, good or bad, on appearance / ease of use etc etc. Only added a few items at the moment, dont want to spend hours doing to find out its crap !
Thanks in advance

Mods please remove if I have broken any rules

not sure what feedback you want... but...
I wouldn't buy from it - sorry.
it gives me no understanding as to who you are / the security of my money
it is difficult to know exactly what you do as a company without digging around
I have no idea as to warranty etc.

the design doesn't look hugely professional - the logo as well...

sorry - looks very amateur, and I think that if you are trying to build a business online credibility is a big part of it

That's exactly the feedback I'm after. I haven't bothered too much as I have a shop on ebay that's takes my time up. It's not easy to get a professional looking site. I suppose you get what you pay for. Needs plenty of work. Thanks for taking the time to have a look. Will take the critism and work with it.

'959 lighting' seems a bit poncey. Maybe I should call my business '250GTO Drain cleaners' ?

if you have got a shop on ebay - why are you looking to move to your own website?
yes, you have less % paid elsewhere - but there are plenty of other costs to replace that - and what you don't have is the marketing...
to get the same level of marketing / credibility / trust that you get from being on ebay would cost you a fortune...

think carefully before you move...
a professional website is not expensive - see thread on ecommerce just below... use something like bigcommerce and it is cheap and easy... don't do it yourself / pay someone else unless you have to - but the cost is not in that, it is in setting up the credit cards / establishing your market / etc. - in particular getting people onto your website is not simple and can cost a lot of money / time

Asking about the site not your opinion on the name, but thanks anyway

That's why I have not really put anytime into. I bought the domain a couple of years ago and paid beer tokens really for the site design. I have just renewed the hosting so thought I would try and do something with it. But your absolutely spot on, to mirror the visits / trust etc I get through ebay will cost a fortune. Appreciate the feedback

why not start by getting your hosting to simply push people to your ebay shop...
then when the balance of people switches from those coming from searching on ebay to those coming from your website - that is the time to then do something with your website...
it will also allow you to practise the marketing / social media / etc. without risking your business

No telephone number visible
Logo duplicated
Text in logo has artefacts
Lots of Categories with zero products
Lots of white space
Search show featured products and search results are below the fold

"Include in your package a signed letter stating the reason for your return and the original receipt."
"Items that are purchased in error are subject to a 10% restocking fee, this will be deducted from your refund."

This could/will cause a whole heap of trouble - Goggle DSR

etc etc

In summary back to the drawing board

This 100%. A good/effective website will cost you to have it designed but will be worth it in the long run, more than paying your investment.

Yep i agree. To be fair, alot of what you have wrote i dont understand lol, if i remember correctly when i first got in contact with the designer he basically took an existing site he had designed and then 'modified' it with my stuff. Things like the returns policy wasnt my wording and its not how i run my returns.
The reason for lots of catergories with empty contents is it is taking me ages to copy and paste things over from Ebay so wanted some feedback before i committed any more hours, glad i did as its ste !
Thanks for taking the time to look and post.

I have an eBay store and setup my own, online store -> http://www.wellandtrulystuck.co.uk/

I shift on average, 10 items per day on eBay, less than 10 per month through my store. You can have a spend thousands on a super professional store, but the problem is how easy people can find it. My advise from my experience, use Wordpress + Woocommerce, it costs nothing. Find a free theme, make up a simple logo. Put it all together and you'll have a semi-decent site that's cost nothing.

Again thanks, speaking to someone this morning who has a good looking site, what i paid and what they have paid is like chalk and cheese. I have sent an email to the designer with this thread. Probably best to stick to what i know. thanks

I'm sorry if it sounded too negative but if you've paid someone to do that . . . .

Since you are running Opencart I think you have 2 options:

Persist with what is there (although the theme does not work on mobiles)- it should not take too long to knock it into shape

Install another theme (not much to lose in terms of cost) you won't lose any data/setup and you can always revert to what you had easily

Very simple as long as you have someone who understands coding and the ebay API
- one page website
- one section explaining who you are / what you provide / why you are the person to come to or buy from
- one line explaining that you sell through ebay, click here to visit my store
- one section pulling in from ebay all your items for sale (using the ebay API) - when someone clicks on an item, it will take them through to your item on ebay - where they can buy as per normal with ebay

don't use the ebay affiliate to do this - ebay will shut you down if your website affiliates to your products - but the normal api is fine to suck in items...
there is a lot you can do with the ebay api - I have websites such as www.watchroll.com which sit there tracking items on ebay - all automated... so it is a one off exercise and then just leave your website alone...

now - spend your time / money / energy in learning about online marketing & social media etc. - how to drive people to your website - this is a huge learning curve and where the majority of your effort should sit if building an online business - it will all be valuable as pushing people to your website will mean that they see your ebay items - you don't lose the ebay marketing, there is no risk in the period where you are learning and building traffic - once traffic is high enough then consider your own ecommerce system - until then you just risk spending a lot of money and killing your business...

comments above about wordpress and woocomerce etc - not the right time for you - that might be the right solution in the future (though hosted systems such as shopify and bigcommerce may be better options) but for now it will be a waste of your money and time
