Having just seen the following tip regarding air con cleaner on another thread where the poster had been quoted £175.00 by an OPC to do an air con clean.

This gave me an idea for a thread for little tips, tricks or money saving ideas that people can pass on to other Porsche owners, now i know some like to brag about wasting money, but i'm sure i'm not the only working class person who has saved for years to get my dream car and would find little gems like the above most helpful.

So if you are in the trade or just a fellow enthusiast and have a few little tricks or ideas to share please post them up for everyone else.

Presumably the Porsche price includes a full re-gas of the system?!

air-cooled indicators = mk2 VW Golf, buy from VW :-)

996 and 997 disks and pads (maybe others) at an OPC use Pagid, get them fitted at a specialist for half the price - source = last months Porsche magazine

don't get tyres fitted at an OPC...

Windscreen replacements are Pilkington glass. If in warranty period, you can't use Autoglass rubbish as it voids the warranty. Buy from Pilkington and get Autoglass to fit. Stays in warranty.

go to quick fit, unplug AC cable in engine bay, get a regas, they state if not colder no charge, replug in AC cable

free re gas.

Bosche battery £85 moll £200+
don't buy N spec tyres, buy better and cheaper
take own oil
do own fluid changes on brakes.
buy GT cars new, sell for overs.
never get OPC to change disks and pads.
don't part ex cars
pump up tyres 3 psi more get more mpg :-)

Does pumping up tyres 3 psi more really boost mpg? and if it does are we talking a decent increase (5+) or are we penny pinching gaining 1 extra mpg.

Don't accept quotes from OPC on servicing. Phone around. They WILL price match indies. Don't buy batteries or tyres or exhausts from OPC. All sourced cheaper elsewhere. Don't buy new Porcshe unless GT or at substantial discount on list.

Re Pilkington glass, are you referring to 991 models?

Also, could you expand/explain a little more on the warranty aspect, please?
