Has anyone looked into what this might mean for our big output cars??

Productivity plan

New car tax based on emissions from 2017 to create a new roads fund.

I think the new rates will only apply to cars registered in 2017 and beyond.

The current tax bands are based on the g/km output from a car and are based on the figure produced during the cars euro approval.
As our cars do not have such approvals then I imagine we will be on the standard rate.

Lucky you. Road taxes in this country (Switzerland) differ from one Canton to another (26 cantons = 26 different rates). There is no Federal road tax per say but the Federal government levies taxes from the sale of petrol, diesel and other related products.

Emissions are based on the Euro norms. However CO2 tax is the big one. This tax is paid in one go upon a vehicle's first registration. The higher the CO2 rate an engine produces the higher the tax. For a V8 engined Ultima count on a CO2 tax of several thousand Swiss francs.
