Hi all,

I think I have an issue with my RX100 M3, but I'm not sure if I really do of if I'm just being fussy...

When I take a photo at night, I get quite a 'glow' around the light source which doesn't look right to me.

I had the RX100 M1 before this one, and I cannot recall seeing this issue at all.

Anyone else noticed this?

Look at the glow around the bulbs on the 3rd photo... Does that look right to you?

I'm speculating wildly here, but if this an effect caused by the backlit sensor?

On the third photo, was that glow (centre-left bottom) actually there in the scene?

Is it not flare from a very very bright source relative to the overall exposure?

It may not help manage the situation but if you suspect the conditions then take a further picture but try reducing your aperture and lengthening the exposure.

I think it could be down to your exposure times, the below is a New York shot similar to yours, you've used f/5 + ISO125 with an exposure time of 8 seconds. On mine it's f/4 + ISO200 with an exposure of 1/5 of a second.

If I pull +2.5 stops on the raw file I can replicate what you are seeing in your pic.

Hmm interesting.

I'll have to do a bit of experimenting I think.

It's the glow round lightbulbs and neon type lighting that looks the worst though.

Bulbs on the bridge being the best example.
