Not going to be working for a while, what do I need to do?
Discussion
We're building a new house and have worked out that we'll be better off if I give up my job and work on the house myself.
I have been employed PAYE for over 30 years but lately had been considering going self employed so it'll be a similar situation but without any income (we have cash savings set aside to build the house and my wife is working with a good income)for the first couple of years.
Can anyone give me advice on what to do about national insurance etc. Am I better declaring myself self employed now albeit with no income?
I have no interest in seeking any benefits or support, just want to have the correct official status.
