There is a metal braid wire that is (or was in my case)connected to the negative post on the battery, can anyone tell me what this is for

It's either for the anti-matter accelerator that powers the warp drive, or it's what he said.

Naaa, its wired to the plasma conduit multiplexer which diverts triathlon beams to the dylethiam core via the magnetic dampers.... or its what he said.

Is that post for real?

Without looking I suspect that it's an earthing strap to the chassis as most cars are earthed to the body, but this would be pointless on a plastic car.

My suggestion would be PUT IT BACK.
