Hi,

My brother is looking for a watch but he wants it to be as minimalist as possible; I'm hoping you can help with some suggestions

Criteria:

White face with as few markings as possible
Date
Thin metal strap
Thin hands

Budget: Aprox £200.

Thank you!

Seiko SARB035 might fit the bill. Have a look at this thread:

Reviews report it's a really well finished watch for the money.

How about a Mondaine? Might need to go used at that budget.

I'd say Christopher Ward offer pretty much exactly what you're looking for:

Albeit £50 over budget with the bracelet, although the leather strap versions are £200. It's quartz rather than mechanical if that matters (don't remember seeing a preference in the original post).

Edit: "Pretty much exactly". Excellent writing there getmecoat

I was thinking Nomos, until I saw the budget. So I'll also reccomend Mondaine or if the budget can creep slightly, what about a Junhans Max Bill Quartz?

I can't vouch for them but a former workmate had one and it seemed okay for the price that they are.

I've got a couple of Christopher Ward watches and a few years ago would've recommended them straightaway. I can't do that with their current pricing structure as I don't consider them value for money any longer (but that's my opinion smile ).

Indeed, some of the CW watches have certainly shot up in price since I bought mine. But I'm thinking at £200 for a decent bit of swiss quartz, you can't go too far wrong...

Junghans Max Bill. Though a bit over budget.

Uniform Wares make a watch exactly as you describe but at a somewhat more expensive price unfortunately.

I knew I'd seen a Uniform Wares clone somewhere with a thin mesh strap. Tsovet svt-sc38. Available for £200 and seems to fit the bill.

A friend of mine works for Braun and they all get to choose one of these. He is really snobby about it and barely ever wears it because it is not his normal watch. I really like them.

Thanks for the suggestions so far! We had seen the Mondaine before but that's too bold for what he's after. It would be perfect if it was thin instead of bold.

I've got a Skagen watch that fits the bill nicely I reckon, have been thinking of selling it along with a few others to raise funds for something else, I'll dig it out and post up a picture if your interested?
