My ultimate pet acronym peev is the introduction of numbers eg C3IST....CH2MHI ....AC2DGS.
For the uninitiated it's intention is to represent the number of consecutive words starting with the same letter. Trouble is there is no standard so C3IST could mean three words starting with C or I...utterly pointless
The new one that creeping in is to start using squared and cubed symbols!

Not really. I couldn't make out what they were saying
Only joking. Every year my model club gets an invite to the Odiham Families Day and this year is no exception. I'm not sure I can make it this time so haven't really been involved in finding out what is supposed to be there etc.
I'm now insanely jealous, having only ever watched the display from outside!

International Plastic Modellers Society - it's the umbrella organisation for scale model clubs in the UK (and other parts of the world too).

A man after my own heart. I was in a pub last night with a bunch of RAF chaps and they might as well have been talking Kurdish. And all they were discussing was an upcoming Families Day.
That's what they wanted you to think they were discussing

'I'm going for a bit of a reccy'
You mean you're going to go have a look?
Recce is not exactly an obscure term. I've always used it and have never been in the military. It's widely used in media and film making too, and you've just shown that that you know what it means. 'I'm going for a bit of a reccy'
You mean you're going to go have a look?
