ACO / IMSA / FIA Have announced that Dallara, Onroak, Oreca and Riley/Multimatic are announced as the 4 chassis manufactures from 2017 onwards.

I think Onroak & Oreca were a given, being as they are already doing a good job in producing chassis that will just need some 'grand-fathering' to meet the regs. Dallara, I'm not so sure about why or who is going to buy one of them and the Riley/Multimatic tie up I don't know much about, but again was surprised Ginetta wasn't chosen considering they are doing lots of LMP3 cars.

think this whole idea is a mistake, its a thriving series as it is why restrict it in this way? The Riley Multimatic is due to one of the manufacturers having to be from the USA so I guess they and HPD were the only ones to tender and that the likely engine supplier will be Nissan I guess that was not going to happen.
More surprising is that LMP3 is also going to be restricted, in this case to 5 suppliers.

+1, bad news for prototype racing. Motorsport cannot all be "one" make racing for the old boys network. BTW, if they are trying to cut costs they can't, motorsport has always been expensive. If you cannot afford to make a LMP 2 car then don't. go and do V de V or something else, but its too late for that now.

Isn't so bad. As I understand it development is similar to Indycar's aerokits.

ELMS may be strong but they want the formula to work across the world. ALMS died because prototypes became too expensive.

IMSA stopped HPD from even applying because they didn't want Honda to be involved...I think that shocked a lot of people.
