My 2011 CL63 needs new shoes, what's the PH perspective on what's best? It's currently wearing Continentals, which came with it when I bought it used and had probably 30% tread on. I usually fit Michelin Pilot Super Sports to my AMGs and have been very happy with them but am wondering if there's something with even more grip to help get the 669hp/732ft-lb down (thanks Renntech!).
Has anyone put wider rears on? Recommended is 275, wondering if I can get away with 295 to help with grip.
Thanks!

Should help with the size http://www.tyres-pneus-online.co.uk/tyre-equivalen...
Pilot super sports would be my choice but bit rich

I've seen this equivalency table before and remain unconvinced by it's accuracy.
My example is that it states the recommended width of 245 or 255mm for a 9.5" rim, going to a maximum of 275mm. My car (E63) has 9.5" rims on the rear, yet factory fitment is 285mm. I can't see Mercedes getting it that wrong to be honest.
I'll be going for 295s on my next set mainly due to the lack of choice with 285s (they don't last long anyway with the power it's putting out at the moment) though that's probably the widest I'd risk. Looked at a mates CLS yesterday with 305's on the rear, again on 9.5" rims, but a bit too much sidewall bulge to be honest, and I'd prefer them on at least a 10" rim.
ETA: As for the make, I'll be going for Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 next as recommended by lots of people with these cars. Got Vredestein Ultrac Vorti at the moment, but they are very skittish, which disappointed me after coming from their Sessantas which I liked. (no 285s in these though)
