Been with Privilege for a few years and got my renewal today.
Last year £415. - No changes re driver or car - quoted £739.88!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Contacted them - sorry all they could do was maybe knock a few quid off. Or I could go back onto the web site and get lucky.
I have another car insured with Aviva and when I renewed they informed me that they could offer very good rates if I took out a multi car policy.
So thought sod it - why not give it a try.
Ten minutes later they wanted an additional £154. to cover the TVR until the end of April 2016! Guess which one I took!
Now I'm really pissed off at Privilege as yet again loyalty has absolutely no value to these guys - mind you I expect it's the same with many providers to a greater or lesser extent.
So if you have multiple cars and have not yet tried it - do so. At the renewal rate I have just saved a massive £586!!!!!

Shhhhh - funnily enough I've now changed to a multi-car policy with Aviva. Far cheaper than insuring individually with Classicline.

Don't worry - no one else will read it as it's about insurance ;-)
Any pics of your Griff?

In fairness to the brokers their prices depend very much on their underwriters. If they change one of their underwriters to get an overall better deal on their book then some cars will lose out. Or if an underwriter decides they want no more exposure to a certain demographic then that demographic gets repriced to shift it away.

Frankly, life would be easier if underwriters just declared what type of client they wanted that month and we could just go direct to who wants our business at that time. All the brokers do is sit in the middle with a limited choice of underwriters that means we are guaranteed to have to change broker at some point.

It looks to me that in many ways the "specialist" high performance brokers are just not "in the ball park" at the moment as I did try at least three others and only tried Aviva as I checked my notes when I insured my other car with them and the rep had mentioned multi-car then.

I'm with privilege. Last year £156, this year doubled to £284. Website quote was £172 so called them up, told them I wasn't happy with their auto renewal profiteering, got the usual excuse of it was an autogenerated qquote so wouldn't include discounts etc... Yeah right.

Anyhow they took the £172 price. Happy with that smile

Footman & james were good with me, Agreed value classic policy for just over £300. Limited to 3k a year but it can be increased if required.

Renewed my policy tonight with Footman James. Having spoken with a lot of 'specialist' brokers in the last few days they've given me a cracking deal on my Tuscan over 1/3 less than anyone else at well under £300. Very happy chap!

Are you guys getting agreed valuation ( not just market rate) and rights to salvage on these policies. ? All too often these low rates lose something in the detail.

NO - but Track days can be covered with a separate track day policy from elsewhere

Market value but on discussion with them if you can demonstrate value, i.e. adverts for similar cars...
To be honest I'd expect to fight it out with any company. Mannings went from agreed value to wanting to separate engineers reports into value.

Agreed value at £18k, £100 excess, European recovery and if it's written off cat c or d or get the full payout AND keep the car at no extra cost. This was a £15 option. I didn't take the track day cover as I haven't been on one for three yrs but it was a £60 option which I can add on later if needed. I've had to re join the TVRCC (£49) to get this deal but as this took £200 off the price I thought it worthwhile!

Footman and James give me an agreed valuation on paper no questions asked.
I was quite surprised as I made sure they knew the car had been a total loss in the past.
I paid an extra £10 to retain the salvage in the event of a total loss, So in theory if its written off I'd get the agreed value and keep what's left of the car.
But I think you'll only really find out in the event of a claim for sure how good the agreed value is.
