almost definitely the thrust release bearing - they all do it (does it make most noise when you simply lift off the throttle with the car in gear?)

it may make more noise in that situation but cant tell ...so much else going on.

the noise in neutral is embarassing both to my self and to any chick in the car...! Some times its worse than others. It seems to be getting worse slowly over time...does violent shocks through the drive train cause this eg those encountered when wheel spinning over rough ground??...which i do not encourage

is this warranty repairable then?

so how do i prevent it too?

cheers guys

Thrust release is when you lift off from high revs afaik. I don't think it would do that in neutral. I'd get it checked out. You sure its the gearbox and not the exhaust on the undertray or something?

yeah tell 'em you can't because it goes against Chapman's ethos.

Actually, it's to be recommended. Make sure you lock the drivers door before you let her in, that way you'll be seated and comfortable as you open the passenger door from the inside and will get a perfect eyeball of her posterior as she 'reverses' in.

Cue Sir Mixalot...."Baby Got Back" etc
