Induction side question...

Can anyone tell me exactly differences there were between the induction components on 4.0 / 4.0HC / 4.5 and 5.0 engines as they came out of TVR?

I hadn't thought that they might have different trumpets and trumpet bases ... although I guess I'm also making the assumption that the inlet manifold is the same too?

I has *ASSUMED* (I know - don't assume - it just makes an Ass out of U and Me) that the only differences on the inlet side were purely cosmetic with the different plenum castings ...

Hi Phil, plenums are all the same but the 500 has a modded trumpet base (bigger straight trumpets) and matching bigger intake although there are probably variations on earlier models when TVR had more time I.e certain 4.3 and the rare 4.0 250 model may of had intake man porting work to match some ported heads but stock trumpet base's IMO.

...so I really need to find myself a 5.0 trumpet base and trumpets?

(I was wanting to keep the 4.0 plenum simply so that nothing looks 'obviously' different under the bonnet at first glance.)

So you use that *INSTEAD* of the normal base and trumpets? Just bolt it to the inlet manifold and put the plenum on top?

Not sure how that works though as I thought that the idea of the trumpets (and their varying lengths) was to equalise the length of the inlet manifold tracts?

(...and does the increased thickness cause issues with clearance on the plenum and bonnet?)
