Anyone know the guidance for offering these instead of a fine and points?

I recall reading somewhere it was the length of time between the light going red and passing through it.

I had to Google it as I can't believe they have one. Seems to be no longer than 3 seconds of red on the site I found.

Green to Amber light means stop, you can only pass the stop line on an Amber light if stopping may cause an accident, you must stop at a Red light, you many only pass a Red light under the direction of a uniformed police officer. Hardly requires a course does it?

If you've been caught pay up, move on

Well the authorities seem to think that courses are useful as they offer them instead of fixed penalty points under some circumstances. It seems in this instance, I've got back to a letter which has indeed offered me a traffic light awareness course.
