This may seem an odd question, but does anyone know whose handbrake levers TVR use? I know they use a fair amount of GM switchgear, stalks and so on, just wondered if this was the case with the handbrakes.
Thanks in advance.

They modify them so that they don't work. Basically this entails filing off alternate ratchet teeth, so there's no setting between 'still rolls backwards' and 'need both hands to get the bastard off'.

Any handbrake assembly that doesn't work shoud be fine in your TVR, and no subsequent owner will ever notice you changed it.

So true.

I drive my mum's car on occasion and I've had to go round several times to get the handbrake off for her after I've been driving it - must be something to do with the 2000Nm of tendon-snapping torque required to apply 1N of pressure to the rear disks of my Tiv.

Incredible isn't it? They can design and build their own engine but can't make a lever and a bit of string work.

TVR drivers have one thing in common with javelin throwers: one arm that looks like a stocking full of melons!

The handbrake in the Griff works great, lightly press the foot brake pedal, three rachet clicks on the handbrake...done deal!

Opposite procedure releases...

Pulling it around just stretches the cable

The hard bit is keeping the pressure on the brake pedal while you get out and go shopping! Maybe a modified Krooklok...?

Sorry, we got carried away (clear throat, straighten tie).

At the Leven stand at Duxford they had three handbrake assemblies on show - don't know why as they only sell the handle bit - but they should certainly know who makes them.

(If you do find a replacement, don't forget to file alternate teeth off or it won't be authentic )
