Factory fit head unit

What would a 95 400 leave the factory with?

Most likely a Pioneer radio cassette player. I had a 95 one that did.

My 2000 one still has, albeit with a Cd changer in the boot.

ok so to keep it looking oe i could get a black pioneer single slot cd or the changer in the boot with some minor wiring to be traced under carpets etc?

That's what I did, non fancy looking pioneer unit, doesn't even have a cd slot these days!

I see little point in trying to stay stock when we modify or improve other areas in the car too.
Cant see why you would not want a modern bluetooth head unit that can be linked to your phone or ipod easily and stream internet radio etc.
I put one of these in recently and its a nice unobtrusive unit with great sound.

Send me a pm if you really want that OE look, as I have the original head unit and a 6-disc CD changer that are now surplus to requirements. They came out of my 1998 450.

My new solution given I have a basic head unit (without bluetooth) - was to buy this -



It transmits on a FM band so any radio can pick it up - but it connects to your phone via Bluetooth, or it even plays from a MicroSD. The shape allows it to stick into the 12v socket in the door (is this location same for all Chims?)

Do you guys also have standard speakers in the front doors only? I was keen to upgrade to a newer head unit but the cabin noise and sound quality makes it seem pointless. Can't imagine trying to make a phone call in there!

I think that any thoughts of making a hands free call in the Tiv are pretty futile but the bluetooth functionality from a mobile phone using (something like) Spotify is really useful...

I put some jl audios in with a new head unit a few months back, 6 inch speakers in the front and 6.5 inch in the rear.
I wish i had not bothered really as although it lets you turn the volume up a little higher the sound quality is compromised on the move.
