Has anyone got HID headlights ?

Has anyone got a HID headlight conversion on there TVR ?

Is it posible ? I can't see why not ?

There are some kits on Ebay for about $300 which is about £200 i think ?
Would this be a wise investment and would it solve the useless headlight problem on the chimera ?

I think they need to be self leveling to be road legal - someone correct me here. Certainly PIAA do kits which would be dramatically better than standard.

It's been covered here before .. by law they must be self leveling and there are MOT regulations that more or less would stop you adding them if they were not factory fitted.

I have them on my Focus and they are fantastic ..

I've got them on my blue Cerbera 4.5 currently in stock (all four lights) and I am aware of a silver grey 1998 4.5 that had them on main beams only, too. Both cars got through the MOT no problems (touch wood, fingers crossed etc).

The difference is amazing.... but they are expensive at about £100 per unit new by shopping around, or I think the TVR price is £190 per unit to retro fit.

My Griff has HID main beams, halogen dips (Zertec conversion) Awesome power on main, no levelling system fitted... 4 MOTs passed.

Agree, no problems with MOT, and well worth having!

HID's dipped beams have to be self leveling and have washers if fitted by the factory at time of registration (HID high beams not affected). The rules do not apply for after market HID's or high beams. So I am having dipped HID's fitted to the Sagaris after registration.

Can you get HID lamps for the old-style single headlamps, or only for cars that have a Speed 6 or Speed 12 conversion?

I find this greatly improves night driving in my car.

And it is waterproof, which is more than can be said for them as they are at present.

I looked into HID but only after checking with insurers, its they who, in the event of a claim, "could" get out of it. They said "thats fine" but never got them in the end.
