TYRE ADVICE...... AGAIN!

Hi all.
I will soon need to get a set of tyres for the Chimaera, a standard 4.0. I,m looking to go 16" all round and to keep similar sizes will fit 205/50x16 front and 225/50x16 rears. The question is which ones for a matching set?
Even in 50 profile the choice seems to be getting limited as most tyres now seem to be "rubber band" thin! in these sizes the seemingly available ones are Bridgestone RE002, Uniroyal Rainsport 3, Avon ZV5 and the Toyo T1R. In other makes, i.e. Michelin and Continentals it appears difficult to get the same tyre in the two sizes or they are make specific, MO for example.
The car will only be for road use and I just wondered what opinions you have regarding the above makes or indeed any others?

Are you an all year, all weather, driver, or a sunny Sundays only driver, or somewhere in between?
In other words, are you likely to need good wet grip?
If you are, then I second the above post re Uniroyal Rainsport 3. Best (A) rating for wet grip, and I have found them good on dry handling and road noise on my 260 bhp Saab

If its for all year round driving?
My considerations would be Uniroyal Rainsport 3, Dunlop Blueresponse or the new Michelin Crossclimate.
If its for dry days only with only a minimal chance of wet driving?
My considerations would be Nangang NS2R, Toyo R1R or the Yoko AD080080 thingy (sorry can't remember the model name of the road/trackday crossover tyre).

It seems that Rainsport 3's are the way to go these days and as a bonus they are not expensive either.
I've had no luck at all in trying to locate a set of LENSO BSX alloys in 16x7.5 though, seems that there are none in the country in silver. Looks like the tyres will have to wait a while, can't even get a delivery date.....

Yes, it's me asking the question, loved the wheels on Richard's car and he did give me the info and stockist he used.
Unfortunately there are no silver, ET25, 16" wheels around anywhere and Lenso apparently can't give a date for the next production run. As I want the silver ones it seems I'll just have to be patient, unless anyone knows otherwise?

Ok... Didn't realize you had already spoke with Richard about it,he's the most recent I know that ordered some. Worth waiting for new delivery times though as they do look really good.
Regarding Millbrook : My attitude of I'll do it tomorrow never materialized so I'm without tickets,so not taking my car but am hoping to jump in with Stu (Cerbera) if they allow/include passengers on their ticket.
Failing this I could well be up for Shelsley,I'll contact you if my plan A falls through.

I have been lucky enough to go to Company car in Action three times. Drove some nice cars round the bowl and the Alpine circuit.
It was the year that Honda introduced the S2000. Several spun off due to the tail happy handling and if I recall correctly one got wrote off.
Be careful out there!

Not sure if this helps or hinders, but just fitted a set of Bridgestone RE002 (205 55 15 Front, and 225 50 16 Rear). They were fitted at my local F1 Autocentre in Leicester. £283 for the set fitted. Other than slightly over inflating them, very happy with the service. I am running them 24psi rear, 22 front.
I attended the RAF Families Day at Wittering on Friday where we get to play on the runway. Even though there was loads of standing water and biblical levels of rain I managed 135mph for the majority of the runway section before the car started to move around slightly in the puddles. It did not deviate from a straight line and it not feel dangerous, but I lost my bottle and lifted slightly dropping down to 120mph for the worst sections.
Very impressed with them in the wet. Hope they are as good in the dry at those speeds and beyond.

I've just replaced the T1Rs on the back of my car today with Uniroyal RS3. It's a bit odd that the offside RS3 looks like it's on backwards and I need to get them worn in as the back is now twitchy. I guess it'll settle down in a couple of hundred miles.JonathanT said:
