It's the usual situation. You realise there's a niche gap in your fleet and you have to fill it.

I want something to take down the local skateparks (including a bowl) and give some stock too without too much worry. The vintage RC10 doesn't really have the ground clearance, the vintage Blackfoot is fine for the back garden but not really up to the task and the T-Maxx is a bit too much of a faff to fire up just for a quick bash.

I was thinking of an HPI E-Firestorm Flux at £250, but funds are a bit tight at the moment, so figured I could probably pick up a cheaper kit or used equivalent and upgrade to a crazy brushless set up when funds allow.

Been looking at the older Firestorms, RC10T etc which seem to go for about a ton on eBay. Anything else I should consider?

Blow the budget - Axial Yeti

Cheaper Vaterra Twin Hammers kit - http://www.modelsport.co.uk/vaterra-twin-hammers-1... may be in budget if you transfer the electrics & motor from the Blackfoot.

Cheapest option - put a better motor in the Blackfoot. If its one of the original ones they were based on the Frog chassis which wasn't bad for its day. If you have the newer Blackfoot III then go 4x4 - http://www.rcracer.com/2012/04/tamiya-monster-truc...
