Taming of the Hampster
Discussion
My son was specifically warned NOT to handle his new hamster for the 1st 24 hours after getting it home.
Like all children he knew better and ignored the advice and got bitten. Seldom handled the hamster again after that, which was a pity.
My advice would be to wear some gloves (gardening / rigger type) and handle it a lot so that it gets used to the idea.
(Personally I think hamsters are useless pets. They're nocturnal, so you seldom see them awake unless you work nights, they're not intelligent enough to be affectionate / respond to petting, and they only live a few years.)

Give it a muzzle? Have it's teeth removed? How about not actually going near it?
