Good value for money, developed as a brand in-house by Fisher Outdoor Group hence they are not widespread and only limited to Fisher stockists

Is a cheap, generic carbon frame actually any better than a well designed aluminium frame?

Don't have the answer, but interested in the question.

Ive got a bottom end Wilier Alu frame and a bottom end Wilier Carbon frame (carbon was £1300 new, alu £950 when new)

The carbon frame is about 2 years "newer" and I find it particularly better:

Carbon frame doesn't flex on flat out climbs and sprints
Carbon frame absorbs more road buzz

Same tyres, different wheels, but similar stiff wheels

Carbon frame "feel" more stiff and literally "takes off" when I sprint hard back wheel or front wheel, is quite comedy

Ironically my strava times flat out on sprints and climbs are better on the Alu bike! Even though the bike was flexing and didn't feel too good! Carbon bike feels solid under pressure, alu bike felt like I was stretching it too much, even though it gave me better times!

Alu bike is more forgiving, I dented the frame by dropping a wine bottle at height on the alu bike (don't ask) , its dented but structurally fine, I dread to think if that was the Carbon bike! I am also weary of over tightening bolts etc on carbon

Not sure it helps that's my feedback on lower end carbon frames

Forgot to say, bike looks ok, the feedback about the cracked chainstay looked a bit st

I'd be more tempted by Planetx or Ribble at that price, or if you are new to riding find a good local shop and do a deal with them

Read the replies. Wiggle appologise promising the user they'll sort it, user replies giving happy feedback and news of a $100 voucher for the inconvenience.

Not so great that in 2 reviews (assume the other review is positive) 50% of them resulted in frame failure. I'm sure it'll be on a par with Plantet X on frame quality with the bonus or Wiggles decent customer service.

I bought an aluminium R3.0 frame secondhand a while back to build up as a town bike, in the end it was far too nice to leave in town so I sold it, but it rode very nicely for the 100 or so miles I did on it.

Much as I like VFM and it is how I base most buying decisions, you can't buy a bike just on the deal. It has to be emotional and less than 100% rational. If you also lust after that Eastway, all well and good, but if there is also something 50 - 500 that you're also considering but the sensible part of you is trying to ignore, just ask for a test ride...
