Wondering on your guys opinions.
The family Tuscan may be going up for sale shortly as it isn't used as much as it should, getting dinged in the garage and costing more sitting there in service tax and insurance than is worth due to usage.
However with the new TVRs coming out I was wondering if you think it is going to mean older TVRs (No doubt these will be called proper TVRs by those who don't want a car with TC/ABS etc) are going to go up in price more than they have been creeping recently.
Just after some discussion. I feel the hype that will inevitably build may mean holding onto one may be a better idea?

Like playing stock market surely? No one knows..
On one hand what if new TVR is an absolute stonker, and reasonably priced? Surely that will knock values down? Or will it still not be a TVR? etc...
So many variables....
Lets say they go up 5k, your car costs you 4k to service, tax insure etc in those 4 years. Gets more knocks and dings and you get same as now? Is it worth hanging on? Or if it goes up 10k you earn

I'm in the same position where-by work and family commitments don't allow me to use my Sagaris much, however, I choose to keep it because 1) I love it and 2) on the times I can drive it, it gives me enormous pleasure. Despite it appreciating over the last couple of years - and I envisage that it will continue to do so - if points 1 and 2 started to fade and go away then I would sell. This is the position the car is in now, it has been out probably a handful of times this year, however plans are to take it to Lemans next year, again real life got in the way and couldn't so it this year.It has appreciated quite considerably since it was purchased, mainly because it was one of the cheapest cars for sale at the time and not labeled as a red rose, but was wondering if people had noticed a increased rate in the last 12 months or so with TVR coming back etc.
The car is obviously there to be driven and enjoyed but who amongst us can say that if they sold at one price and a year down the line it was worth considerably more wouldn't be annoyed, it would be nice to have so much to not worry about such things.
Without the benefit of hindsight, it is an impossible question to answer I'm afraid. All you can do is make a decision based upon your own circumstances. If you do decide to sell, you are then into, do you sell it privately or via a dealer, which of course also impacts upon the net selling price
Similar situation here, just picked mine up from a service and MOT I've done pretty much spot on 1000 miles in 12 months... Which is a bit Rubbish....

I don't think the new car will affect values of existing cars but I think TVRs do have some catching up to do with other cars like Porsche 964, 993 and say the Morgan +8. Even a decent Carrerra 2 996 is now 22k at a good dealer.
You can't buy a 993 coupe for much less than 40k now and cheapest +8s seem to be about £25kish.
If you were to say that the average Griff from a dealer is about 22k I can see the average rising to 30k+ over the next 5 years. And so I am planning to spend a bit of money on mine for the first time over the winter.
