Best UK circuit for a long ride?
Discussion
The PH sportive thread got me thinking - of all the major UK circuits, which would be the best for a 100k ride (just lapping the track)?
Some jump out as interesting - Cadwell, Knockhill, Oulon have good elevation changes.
silverstone, Donny, Brands are iconic.
Some jump out as horrid - has there ever been a calm day at Anglesey?
Anyways, my vote goes for Cadwell - what about you lot?

Lapping... Meh! Done 21 laps/50 miles of Goodwood a couple of times. Very flat, corners are easy on a bike. The first few laps are interesting, especially if you can hang with the fast boys for a bit...but then it gets dull, and you're just waiting for the end. Had perfect weather both times, think wind and/or rain would make it absolute murder.
Having said that, Donny would probably have the most interest in terms of elevation change. Maybe if they coned half the track width off they could make some of the corners interesting

Rockingham would have to be up there with the dullest.

You either have a choice of being battered by the wind at Combe, Anglesey, Silverstone and Snetterton or suffer the elevation change at Brands, Donington, Knockhill and Oulton.... Cadwell would be ok and you could get some good speed up at Mallory...
Mallory Park is now promoting itself as a venue for cycling (and open water swimming), alongside motorsport.Craikeybaby said:

I raced on some test track somewhere near Guildford a few years ago, run by dunwich dynamo maybe? It was a tight twisty track and thats about all I can remember. Any ideas where I was?
Dunsfold? were there a bunch of old aircraft dotted around the place?Gassing Station | Pedal Powered | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
