Been lurking on the forum for a few years now, trying to learn about and find the right Cerbera.
Seen a few, but none worked out.

Saw this one yesterday:
2003 4.5 LW Red Rose; 17k miles
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/t...

I really wanted a V8 in Grigio Titanio, but so few good ones ever seem to come up (or I get busy and miss them when they do).
This one seems close enough to what I want, but the price is quite exceptional.

Interested to hear what you all might think.
It doesn't appear to have had much in the way of improvements or chassis work, but then perhaps that's appropriate for a 2003.
Question is, is it appropriate for 37k?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

The car is an original example that I doubt has ever seen rain, there is no mention of chassis work because it is still mint underneath and every where else.

If you want a mint original and rare Cerbera with a warranty that really is very very good then buy it, there are very few around like this car.

It is probably the nicest original Cerbera I have seen.

Thanks for the comments gruffalo.
Sounds like you've seen/know the car?

I would drop a line to Jason at Str8Six to have a chat about it. I'm sure it was there being serviced when mine was there earlier this year, and it's on a par with mine. I also bought from Str8Six. As far as I am aware (if I remember correctly from speaking to Chas) the previous owner has a stable of TVR's (?), and this one will have wanted for nothing.

I did just speak to Jason, and yes the previous owner has several TVR's and the car has been well maintained by str8six.
I have asked if I can speak to the previous owner, hopefully I'll be able to.

Top money for a top car, I don't think you could find a better original example out there. If its a true lightweight, and I believe only about 6 were ever made. The way to tell is by pushing down on the bonnet, there should be a degree of movement in the panel, compared to a normal cerebra which was stiff as a rock. As I understand it, most of the cars ended up back being heavier than a normal cerb as they were then stiffened back up by the factory to correct some of this flex! The lightweight is still a controversy among cerbera owners, many arguing that the LW stands for large windscreen.

Pretty sure it wont be a true lightweight. Just a late MK2.

I would agree. It became more of a marketing name for the later Mk2. I understand the true LightWeight was only made for a handful, but the panels were too thin and cracked or something. But they (TVR) carried on the "LW" namesake.

Either way, the later version you can buy the better. I preferred the Mk2 when I was on my search. Having said that, if one had come up with the history, proof of works done, great condition, and the right colours (what ever that would be at the time!), then it doesn't matter - condition is key.

Great looking car and a rare example. I'd expect it to not hang around long, despite the price.

I bought my Cerb from Str8six - a low mileage 2003 car that was in immaculate condition courtesy of Jason and Chas. The preparation of their cars is second to none in my view.

The other advantage is the 12000 mile/12 month warranty - great bit of peace of mind for a first time buyer.

God I love my Cerb (any excuse for a photo!)

I certainly tried, but someone seems to have beat me to it, as the ad says sold.
:-(
The search goes on...

Thanks everyone for all your help, very much appreciated.
I suppose there is a perfect Grigio Titanio out there somewhere, waiting for me!

I don't mean to start a new debate, but the rarity of Cerbera's in outstanding condition and the similarity in price/performance/desirability to an Audi R8, is causing me to consider the latter instead.

Something tells me I'm about to get a lot of opinions!
